“I always thought it was more about the feeling, than the food. Turns out…they were both the same thing.”
- Auntie C.
The late writer, Lewis Caroll once said, “In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take.” If you would have told young Courtney Garris that 2020 would be the year she launched her seafood and wings business, she would have likely laughed hysterically. The idea of operating anything in the culinary world, was never an aspiration of Courtney’s growing up. While she’s always been a lover of food, and passionate about cooking—the business piece came later in life.
As a veteran, mother of three, and auntie to more than twenty nieces and nephews, Courtney would constantly receive praise and anticipation for the food she prepared. What started off as a simple stress reliever, turned into in depth experimentation in the kitchen. After creating various concoctions of flavors and dishes, she began to share with friends and coworkers. She witnessed the joy and connection that food brought and realized that her gift had to be shared. After spending many nights studying flavor profiles, techniques, and cooking practices, she decided to launch a legacy of her own.
Known as “Auntie Courtney” by her nieces and nephews, it made sense for her to name her business in honor of her most loved fan base. She eased on the scene cooking for loved ones from her kitchen, then at pop-up events. Now, the business has grown, requests have increased and Auntie Courtney’s Seafood and Wings is a mobile food fave that brings the flavor where the fun is…or needs to be! From family functions to corporate settings, Courtney believes “Good food will always change your mood.”
When she isn’t experimenting with new flavors or serving up smiles, you’ll find Courtney traveling, restaurant hopping, or spending time with her most loved trustees (children)- Khaliah, Nyla and Korbyn!
